On Wednesday, 12th January, TBG will launch a natural gas market public enquiry process for the purchase and sale of natural gas from third parties, in order to balance operations, and for the purchase of natural gas in the Brazilian gas transmission system (GUS). The period for receiving purchase or sale proposals will extend to February 17th, 2022. All interested parties can send messages and inquiries to: comercial.proposta@tbg.com.br.

The stages of the process for contracting a supplier, or prospecting purchasers, includes the submission of proposals, the choice of bidders; and the negotiation, signing and execution of contracts. The latter is scheduled to take place from May 15th, 2022.

Balancing is a procedure designed to maintain equilibrium between gas injections and withdrawals in the pipeline which is an important part to the operation to assure the proper functioning of the TBG Natural Gas Transmission Network, as well as the purchase or sale of natural gas that is required to insure the balance. The need to purchase gas by a carrier may occur when the withdrawal of gas from the network, by shippers, is greater than the injection of gas into the pipeline. When the withdrawal of gas is less than the injection, there may be a need to sell the surplus.

Contracts for the purchase or sale of gas, for balancing purposes, or for gas to be used in the system (GUS), will remain valid until December 31, 2022. These operations require that a guarantee be made by the seller, or buyer of gas injections and withdrawals from the system, whenever activated by TBG procedures.

The GUS consists of a volume gas required to operate the pipeline transmission network, and include the gas fuel used by the carrier's equipment.

For the purchase of gas used for balancing, all traders, gas distributors and free consumers may participate. In the case of gas supply for balancing and use in the GUS system; producers, traders and importers of natural gas or LNG may also participate.
