TBG sets up a school to train professionals in gas pipeline operations, inspection and maintenance
TBG is expanding its portfolio of services and has formed a partnership with NTS (Nova Transportadora do Sudeste S.A.) to train 85 NTS workers to be ready, by the end of June, to perform gas pipeline operations, inspection and maintenance as of the second half of this year. The course is Pipeline Skills, at the TBG Business School, which provides customized theoretical and practical training on behalf of gas transportation companies.
The contract between the companies has already been signed and the training will be largely practical, carried out at the TBG field facilities and at the NTS Control Center, always in accordance with the security protocols of both companies, including those related to the prevention of COVID-19.
The course will be taught by TBG engineers and technicians to professionals taken on by NTS, who will join the team responsible for the operation and maintenance of its pipeline network, as of the second half of 2021, after the Transpetro operation and maintenance services contract terminates
TBG's technical team is responsible for preparation of all the customized material used in the training, in order to provide full coverage of the technical scope required by NTS. There will be over 4,500 course hours for eight different classes, comprising middle and senior level professionals.
TBG CEO Érick Portela Pettendorfer sees the company expanding its business range and further contributing to the natural gas transportation market. He emphasizes that “TBG intends to use its more than 20 years of expertise in gas pipeline operation and maintenance to establish a new business model in the educational field, offering training and qualifications for the domestic and international markets, to ensure the diversification of the business portfolio will yield a return to the company, consolidate the brand and stimulate new partnerships in the natural gas market”.
According to Wong Loon, the CEO of NTS, the practical training developed in partnership with TBG complements NTS’s own professional training strategy. He says that, “Ever since the planning for taking over the operation and maintenance of our network, the training of our professionals for their specific activities has been considered a priority. We developed and implemented strong theoretical training and now we move on to the practical side that, among other modules, includes this partnership with TBG. We are very pleased with the training that is being developed and we are certain that the joint efforts of the partners has also helped to increase operational integration”.
