The Bolivia–Brazil gas pipeline operator, TBG, represented by its communication, processes and brand coordinator, Leonardo Duncan, took part in this year’s Privacy Symposium, a leading global forum dedicated to promoting international dialogue, cooperation and knowledge sharing on data governance, regulatory compliance and innovative technologies. Held from April 20 to 24 this year, the event takes place annually in Venice, Italy.

According to Duncan, who participated in the panel “Regional Evolution of Data Regulations and Cooperation,” one of the main points discussed was the growing tension between strengthening local data protection laws and the need to ensure the global flow of information. Topics such as regulatory convergence and divergence across countries, the practical challenges of international cooperation and the development of common frameworks to align data protection with operational efficiency were also addressed.

During the event, TBG’s communication, processes and brand coordinator and the president of Brazil’s National Data Protection Authority, Waldemar Gonçalves, discussed recent progress in Brazil’s data protection agenda, marked by institutional consolidation and stronger regulatory guidelines.

The data governance and protection agenda is strategic for TBG, which operates critical infrastructure and handles information essential to the security, credibility and efficiency of natural gas transportation. Alignment with regulatory best practices helps strengthen risk management, operational integrity and stakeholder trust.
