TBG was a premium sponsor of this years’ Gas & Energy Week - 2024, held from August 26 to 28 at the Othon Palace in Rio de Janeiro. Over the three days, participants debated on topics related to Natural Gas, Small Scale LNGs, Low Carbon Gases and Thermal Power Plants.

The event was attended by 370 people, including 24 TBG employees.

During the first day, the central theme discussed was Natural Gas. TBG was represented by the commercial director, Jorge Hijjar, on the panel focusing on Infrastructure and Transport, together with the Natural Gas Infrastructure Commercialization Manager from Petrobras, and André Bittencourt Martins; the TAG Regulatory & Commercial Director, Ovídio Quintana; the CEO of ATGÁS, Rogério Manso; the Natural Gas Director at GALP, Thiago Arakaki: the Executive Director of EDGE, Guilherme Matos; and Faveret partner, Tepedino, Londres, Fraga Advogados, José Roberto Faveret. The discussion was moderated by TAGD partner Maria Amélia Braga.

Regarding the theme Contracting Models, Infrastructure Investments and Middlestream Impacts, Director Hijjar highlighted the TBG investment portfolio as well as the importance of regular network maintenance; pipeline section changes due to changes in the rental classification; adapting to the new market, especially in the southern region of Brazil, where there is demand for increased transportation capacity; network reinforcements to transfer capacity from one section to another; and adaptation to changes in gas supply sources.

“TBG is ready to receive more gas. It is important to have this vision planned and structured and ready for the future,” highlighted Hijjar.

The second day of the event focused on Low Carbon Gases. TBG' New Business Manager, Rafael Perrone, participated in the panel on Projects, alongside partner and founder of Urca Energia, Maurício Carvalho and Ultragaz Renewable Gases Director, Erik Trench Alcantara Santos. ACX Brasil Chairman of the Board, Carlos Martins served as moderator.

The panel addressed Projects and Innovation with a focus on Biogas and Biomethane. Perrone began with a presentation on the concept of the biomethane hub. He explained that the TBG route has the privilege of passing through a region with very large biomethane potential and highlighted that the Hub's objective is to provide flexibility for different means of injecting the input into the company's transportation system.

“Given the debates at the event, we saw in practice that there is potential and advantages, but also issues that lead us to seek solutions. Biomethane for TBG is something completely new and we intend to move forward to consolidate the first injection into our pipeline grid”, highlighted Perrone.

Thermal power plants were the theme of the third and final day of the Gas & Energy Week, with the panels on "Thermal Power Plants as a Pillar in the Gas Sector" and "Contracting and Re-contracting Auctions".

Tax Gas Brasil

On the third day of the event, the Special Tax Gas Brasil Seminar was also held with the following themes: "Expected Economic Impacts as a Consequence of Tax Reform in the Gas Sector" and "Practical Agenda: Points of Attention in the Face of Complementary Bill Projects Promoted by Tax Reform".
